All my life I wanted to be a builder. At the age of 6, I distinctly remember thinking, "I am going to build stuff when I grow up." I remember putting together my fist log home kit with Lincoln Logs which were created by John Lloyd Wright, the son of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This one act inspired me to be come a design-build contractor. My mother bought this simple toy and it inspired me. Now I want to inspire future generations to not only love building things but to take that a step further and become artisans.
An artisan is someone who is the best in his or her industry and servers as an example and mentors the next generation. In my book, The Artisan Philosophy, you will find a mixed bag of concepts and history. I'll admit, I really just wanted to leave behind a piece of me for my children but if I inspire one more youth to become an artisan, I can rest in peace.
